How do I access the connector?
The connector is accessed from Tableau.
On the left-hand side, under 'Connect to a Server', click 'Web Data Connector'
In the URL box, type http://tableau.cognetik.com
After accessing the connector in Tableau, just click on the 'Don't have an account?' button, fill in the fields, click 'Sign Up' and your account is created on the spot
Here’s an article with screenshots that helps you access the connector.
What are the technical requirements to use the connector?
In order to use the connector, you need to have:
Tableau (version 10 or later) installed on your computer
Cognetik credentials (after accessing the connector in Tableau, just click on the 'Don’t have an account?' button, fill in the fields, and your account is created on the spot).
What platforms does the connector support?
We are in the process of building new connectors, so make sure you subscribe to our newsletter to keep up with all our updates.
If you'd like to create a connector for your data, let us know: email@example.com
Do I need to link credentials every time I create a new connection?
You only need to link your platform's credentials once as they'll be saved for all subsequent requests to the same profile.
Your Cognetik credentials to access the connector, however, cannot be stored due to Tableau’s technical limitations with their in-app browser, so once the Tableau session has ended, you must enter your credentials again.
What are the connector's limitations?
Our connector has a 50k row limitation.
Other than that, since it acts as a pipeline between different platforms and Tableau, any other limitations you might encounter are related either to the platforms' API or Tableau.
Does the connector display data in real time?
The connector displays the data in real time, to the extent that the data source you use makes it available.
PRICING AND DATA PRIVACY
Is the connector free?
Yes, the connector is free and it will always be free.
Do you have any hidden fees?
No, there are no hidden fees. The connector is absolutely free to use!
Why are you free? Are you selling my data?
We're building these tools so that we can do our job better as an analytics services agency, and in the meantime to help analysts and marketers do their job better.
We don't cache any of the data you pass through our connector, let alone store it or sell it in any way. The Cloud Connector is essentially a pipeline. It sends data directly from the marketing cloud platforms directly into Tableau.
Here's a blog post explaining why we decided to do this.
How does Cognetik make money?
We make our money by selling our analytics services to Fortune 500 companies around the world. Besides our digital services, we help them enable the tools we build within their enterprises, so they can extract transformational insights.
So, if one of our clients needs help designing and engineering their dashboards, or with their tag management solutions, A/B testing, funnel analysis, reports automation, or even training on analysis and implementation, our team of industry experts is there to help them.
The Cognetik Cloud Connector and Data Streams are just a few of the tools we built with our dedicated product & engineering team, but we have great products in the pipeline that we'll continue to launch and improve.
If you guys need help setting up Tableau dashboards, building measurement plans, doing analysis, or any kind of analytics engineering, let us know! We'd be glad to help!
PLATFORMS AND ERRORS
Where do I find the username and secret for Adobe Analytics authentication?
Login into Adobe Analytics, click on the Account Profile icon> Edit Profile in the top right corner of the screen. Then on the Account Information page, under Web Services, you’ll see the Username and Shared Secret. If you can't find it, ask someone with Admin rights to give you access to Web Services.
Do I need to have an Adobe admin account to use the connector?
No, however, your Adobe account needs to be API-enabled by the account admin.
Here's a screenshot that should help your admin enable your Adobe account.
Why is it taking so long for my Adobe Analytics data to load?
This is related to Adobe's API, which is objectively slow. Feel free to write a message to Adobe’s Client Care and ask them to put more power behind their API.
Should there be a difference between the Adobe Analytics data in Tableau and the data in other Adobe Analytics reporting tools?
No, there shouldn't. The data comes from the same source and our tool acts like a pipeline that sends the data to Tableau without processing it so it should match 100%.
If it doesn’t match, it’s possible that Tableau may be aggregating data in a way Adobe is not. Try changing the way you pull data and make sure your queries match (date range, granularity, timezone, etc.)
Can I add my calculated metrics from Adobe Analytics to the connector?
Yes, you can add your custom variables in Tableau using Cognetik. Make sure the custom variable is shared with everyone in your AA account.
I can’t find certain metrics from my insights in your connector. Why is that?
The metrics you find in our connector are made available by the cloud data sources' APIs. We don't have control over these.
What do I do if I encounter an issue using the connector?
Feel free to contact us on our website through our chat box, in the lower right corner. We'll get back to you in one business day.
Send us your error message, if that's the case, along with the specifics of your issue (screenshot of the complete query that generated the error) so we can replicate the error and troubleshoot it.
